Tell Us What's On Your Bucket List

Now that lockdown is easing, the Unilife team have been thinking about all kinds of cool things that we want to and can now begin to do outside! Now’s the time to make our ‘life after lockdown’ dreams come true!

DREAMS CAN COME TRUE

Here at Unilife, everyone’s been dreaming about the light at the end of the lockdown tunnel for weeks. Happily, our Unilife students have remained upbeat, connected and busy with our popular virtual online events, and these will continue throughout the summer.

Now that lockdown is easing, the Unilife team have been thinking about all kinds of cool things that we want to and can now begin to do outside! We’ve each written our own ‘bucket list’ or ‘wish list’ of activities that we now can’t wait to start ticking off – now’s the time to make our ‘life after lockdown’ dreams come true!

TELL US WHAT’S ON YOUR BUCKET LIST

We’d love for you to share what’s on your list of things you plan to do now and in the future. Tell us about the people you want to see, the places you’d love to go post-lockdown. What sports have you missed, which café/restaurant will you visit first? Please share with us @unilifestudent and tag #ultimatestudentliving

If you’re stuck for ideas, have a peek at some ideas that we came up with for our bucket lists. Some are simple, some are a little bit more adventurous and challenging…. feel free to give one or all of them a go!

  • Face your fear - Why not book yourself in for a skydive? If the thought of jumping out a real aeroplane at 12,000 feet is a little bit too hair-raising, how about trying indoor skydiving instead?  Experience the thrill of a vertical free fall in a wind tunnel at iFly in Basingstoke! Packages start from around £30 and their experiences are suitable for all ages and abilities. Visit iflyworld.co.uk for details.
  • Run Forest run – How about running a marathon? It’s summer, lush weather and we have longer days and lighter evenings – all perfect conditions for taking to the streets and preparing for a marathon challenge. Even if you are new to running, it really is possible, with the right training plan over 16 weeks, to train for and run a marathon. If you’re determined to successfully complete the 26 something miles, look at runnersworld.com – they can show you how.
  • Take a trip to the zoo – We’ve all heard that some of the zoos have been struggling financially because of their forced closure to the public, over the last few weeks. Let’s do our bit to help the keepers of our animal friends afloat. Now open, Marwell Wildlife have competitions to win free tickets on social media and Longleat have announced an extension to annual pass holders and are back welcoming visitors.
  • Learn to paddle board – Our Unilife locations are right near to the beach so why not make the most of it and take up a water-based challenge?  One local business, Island Feather, is providing safe paddle board hire from the rear of Southsea Beach Café on Southsea Seafront (near South Parade Pier).  COVID-19 risk assessment approved, they provide a board, paddle and buoyancy aid  – you can book ½, 1 or 4 hours online here. https://www.islandfeather.com/suphub
  • Enjoy an outdoor dip – So, public swimming pools and gyms are currently closed, but Unilife’s buildings are located so close to so many stretches of beach from which it’s suitable to swim, and even better, sea swimming is totally free! Eastney Beach in Portsmouth is a popular spot and all three sections of Southsea Beach - Southsea East, West and Central - have lifeguards during the summer.

Go on a date!

Online dating site, Match, says that during lockdown users have been spending an average of seven hours a week dating online, so (if you’re single!) now could be a good time start connecting with prospective dates. There are over 1500 online dating sites and Apps to choose from and you might have some extra time on your hands to sit down and write your perfect bio. When it comes to your first date, you could consider a FaceTime or Skype video call or a socially distanced walk on the beach instead of a café coffee or restaurant dinner!

Tell us how many of these 100 bucket list activities from Secret London have you done during lockdown?
