Meet Mike

Meet Mike, the new city manager at Riverside in Guildford!

What is my role at Unilife?

City Manager at Riverside House in Guildford.

What does a typical day look like?

I am responsible for doing everything possible to help you enjoy your time with Unilife. I’m here to ensure everything runs smoothly in the building while getting to know our residents to find out what we can do throughout the year with facilities and events. Essentially, alongside all the admin and building management, I am here to chat and here to help with anything that crops up while you are here with us.

What do I do outside of Unilife?

Football, football podcasting, a little bit more football. I have spent the past couple of years as a freelance sports writer, covering many sports with promo pieces, tactical analysis and player and coach interviews. I added creating the Coast to Coast FC podcast in my spare time which covers the Canadian Premier League, Canadian Championship, and some of the National Team. With the World Cup heading to Canada in 2026 this will be their second appearance at a World Cup in a row and the CPL is trying to grow in the attention that the sport is receiving with it going into its 6th season this year. I like getting out and about walking in the countryside around Guildford while complaining I’m not as fit as I used to be, and trying to slowly improve my Spanish along the way.

What superpower would I have and why?

I think if I could have a super power, it would be to have a photographic memory – I may save a few trees from all my notes and lists. Or teleportation as flights are long and cost a bit to much to get over to Canada each weekend.
