Moving In FAQ’s for your new student accommodation!

Read on and learn about the moving into student accommodation process!

Congratulations, you’ve worked hard to get accepted at your University, and now it’s time to move in to student accommodation! It can be an exciting and stressful process to go through, although with the right preparation and insight you can ensure it’ll run smoothly. You may have a few questions in regards to this process, so here are our 5 most asked questions about the moving in process when choosing private student accommodation. 1. When can you move in?

You can move in as early as the accommodation contract states. You can find a copy of your contract on your Unilife account under "Review your bookings", "View" your accepted offer and find "Contract documents". From this date, the Studio is yours and you can arrive anytime. Let the team know as we’ll welcome you in person. To request an arrival date prior to your contract start date, get in touch with the team and we will happily check availability for you. Our contract start dates are flexible!

 

2. What documentation do you have to bring with you?

Besides your belongings, and yourself ;), please remember to bring your:

  • Proof of ID
  • Proof of Study
  • Proof of Payments completed
  • Guarantor Documentation if you chose to pay monthly

In regards to your belongings, its recommend to be aware of what accommodations already provide. For example, we provide an oven/microwave combo and bins in your studio so you won’t have to worry about that. In addition to that, there is a dishwasher, and free hot drinks for all residents to use.

 

3. Know where you’re headed!

You may have attended an open day and had a tour of the accommodation which will make it easier for you to find the location of your new home. If you haven’t visited the city or us before, you can find the right location by typing in the student accommodation’s address in Google Maps. May you still have any questions in regards to travel, do not hesitate to ask the team for directions. We’re easy to reach by National Express coach, bus, train, and taxi. Once you have packed everything, and know where you are headed, you are ready to hit the road! Here are our addresses and links to google maps, so you can find your way to us with ease!

4. What happens on the day  you arrive at the accommodation?

When you have arrived, the team will welcome you with open arms and greet you. We will thereafter give you your keys and show you where your room is located. In your new studio we will complete your studio induction, and show you around the room and building. May you still have still have questions, we will ensure to answer those too. After the studio induction, we will help you move your belongings with a trolley and help you get settled in.

 

5. Where can I unload my belongings?

If you come with suitcases and directly from the airport we will help you bring those up to your Studio. At all our sites you can park close to the building to unload a car or taxi.  If you have any further concerns please contact us.

1. Where can you find your timetable?

You will be able to find your timetable through your university portal. They will send you an email and keep you updated with any events you should be aware of.

 

2. Can anyone stay the night with me?

Yes we love for you to feel at home with us so you can have friends and/or family staying over. Due to our residents’ safety and in case of an emergency it’s vital to inform the Unilife Team about this.

 

3. Is there a curfew?

No, there is not a specific time you have be back in the accommodation by. Please be considerate and keep the noise down between 10pm and 8am and when you come back after a night out.

 

4. What is an inventory and when should I hand it in?

An inventory report is sent to you within 10 days of you arriving. You can then go through this and agree to the condition your studio was handed over in.
