Private shared houses are usually less than ideal to meet the needs of student couples and whilst there is no shortage of 4,5,6 bedroom accommodation to rent, it is often much harder to find suitable shared student accommodation in the form of one bedroom and two bedroom properties. It’s your own space
There’s nothing worse than being a couple and finding it impossible to find some privacy in your own home. Shared houses are exactly what they say they are… shared! So this can make it very hard to spend time relaxing just the two of you. A studio, or student twin room, gets rid of this problem entirely; the layout is fully self-contained from the kitchen to the bathroom and everything in between. So your space, is your space! No interruptions, no compromise.
There’s ample space
Privacy isn’t a trade-off for space however! All our studios, which are designed for shared student accommodation, come complete with two desks, adequate wardrobe space, a good size bathroom and a comfy double bed. This ensures that both residents can get on with all the daily requirements of being a student, be that studying, relaxing or enjoying themselves! Many of our residents choose to renew with us and stay the duration of their studies (check out some of their testimonials), so it is vital there is enough room for all their belongings. So no need for arguments over wardrobe space!
Chance to meet other people
Being in a studio as a couple doesn’t mean you have to miss out on any University social life either. Unilife offers plenty of different ways to help meet new people as many of our tenants are international students, who face the extremely daunting task of moving to a new country not knowing anyone. As a result, we hold numerous free social events throughout the year such as: welcome evenings (with food and live music!), Christmas meals and even pizza and games nights! These events always prove to be very enjoyable with both students and staff and are a fantastic way to get to know your neighbours.
In all Southampton accommodation and at Riverside House in Guildford we have social communal areas complete with pool tables, big screens and games consoles. Having all this on site gives you extra space other than your studio and an additional chance to meet some new friends. And don’t worry Winchester students, our new Sparkford House accommodation, opening September 2019, will have a state of the art social hub available for use by all Unilife Winchester residents! Not both students?
A problem faced by many couples when searching for shared studio accommodation is that it is a requirement for many landlords that both of the tenants be students. This is certainly the case for most university halls and many other private student hall providers. At Unilife this is not a problem, we are one of very few providers that allow non-students to live with a student partner. As long as one of the couple is a student, there’s no problem!
Great locations
Location is particularly important to couples, as a suitable balance is often needed. Partners have different needs, such as the requirement to attend different areas of university campuses or excellent transport links to travel to work, or home to family. Unilife is very proud that every one of its buildings is set in a location that provides easy access to campus (Guildford, Southampton, Solent and Winchester), local shops, bars, clubs and local public transport. Meaning everyone is happy!

Our all-inclusive bill means you won’t ever have to worry about internet, water, heating, electricity, contents insurance or TV licence bills. Couple living is also extremely affordable with Unilife allowing you to just divide the amount by two!
Your space – your way also allows you to decide how long you want your contract for, ranging from 40 to 51 weeks. So you can tailor your contract for exactly how long you need it for. Why not save yourself some money by moving home at the end of the university year or spend the summer in your new couples student accommodation! The choice is yours.
